Is your market looking for a recipe to turn up the burner on sales of your vendors' fruits and vegetables?
KRC may have the secret ingredient!
Savor the Season is a specialty crop promotion project that seeks to increase the consumption of ten fruits and vegetables through attractive and informative produce cards and additional supporting materials.
We're highlighting ten fruits and vegetables this market season through full-color cards, FYI tips sheets and market events. We even have a Facebook Page; click over and become a fan.
Is your market interested?
KRC has funding for as many as 20 farmers markets to participate in the 2012 Savor the Season program.
KRC’s Our Local Food program will develop:
- 10-4” by 6” color photo crop cards cards with selection, storage and preparation tips as well as a recipe. (printed)
- 10 FYI Tip Sheets providing additional crop info such as preservation, nutrition and seasonal availability. (PDF format)
- reprint 16 previous Savor the Season cards.
- 4 press release templates highlighting the program and featuring information on the selected crops by season.
- program banner, 18” by 36”, for display at market
- 40 additional recipe entries on the ksfm web site featuring selected crops
KRC will solicit recipes from chefs, extension, markets and shoppers through March 1.
Markets have until March 15 to sign-up to participate.
KRC will mail cards (number based on market attendance) to participating markets by April 18.
Additional materials, including FYI Tip Sheets and press releases, will be distributed via email:
- May 1: spring crops
- July 1: summer crops
- September 1: autumn crops
KRC will attempt to connect markets with interested volunteers to support Savor the Season crop promotion activities such as samplings and cooking demonstrations.
