July 31-Tomato Day

Saturday, July 31, 2010 - 8:00am

Attention!! The incorrect time was posted for the judging of the Tomato Contest.  The judging is at 10am instead of 9:15am as listed previously on this page. Also, not each child that enters the coloring contest will receive a prize - only the top picture in ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-10 will receive a prize.  Sorry for the errors.

DAILY ACTIVITIES:

Celebrate Tomato Month with lots of fun activities! There will be a tomato contest for the smallest, largest and ugliest tomato.  An entry form for the contest is available to pick up at the Market (starting in July).  Bring you entry form and tomato(s) to the Market by 9:45am.  Judging will begin at 10am.  There will be prizes awarded to the winner in each catergory.  There will also be a coloring contest for the kids (ages 3-10)!  Pick up the coloring page at the Market (starting in July), take it home to color and bring it back, or color it while you're there.

From 9-11am our resident expert on all things gardening will be at the Market to answer questions and pass out information on this week's topic - "Starting a Compost Pile".  Teri Farha is a Licensed Landscape Architect and has been an avid gardener for over 20 years!  Not only will she teach you how to start your own commpost pile but she can also answer any planting, growing, watering or gardening question you have.
