Growing Growers Training Series for New Farmers
In conjunction with Growing Growers the Kauffman Foundation FastTrac New Venture program will be holding a multi-week course designed for both current growers looking to refocus and people who are ready to begin their own sustainable farm business within the next few years.
Participants attend all six sessions, which include guest speakers, business coaches and exercises designed to help participants consider and plan their business in detail. Topics include concepts of entrepreneurship, marketing, setting financial goals, taxation/regulation, business structures, accounting options, risk management, pricing/profitability and more. This is an opportunity to not only consider the right questions, but investigate the answers.
New Venture class schedule:
- Saturday, Nov. 14th (8:30-2:30)
- Tuesday, Nov. 17th (evening)
- Saturday, Nov. 21 (8:30 - 2:30)
- Saturday, Dec. 4th (8:30-2:30)
- Tuesday, Dec. 8th (evening)
- Saturday, Dec. 12th.
In 2009, the cost to participate in this pilot program will be $50.00–much less than the usual Kauffman courses (thanks to the generosity of the Kauffman Foundation), and includes written and online resources.
More information on this program will be posted soon, but if you are interested in participating, please contact Laura Christensen ASAP and set aside the dates at: growers [at] ksu [dot] edu or (816) 805-0362.
Space is limited. First priority will be given to former and current GG apprentices, but we expect additional openings to be available.
